Welcome - Our message to students and parents
Our programme is designed to be hands-on for students, and it can be tough sometimes. Students will go through a series of unconventional ways of learning, from collaborating remotely, self-pacing, to sharing in front of the classroom. No matter what, rest assured that they are in our good hands.
We expect whining, complaints, and/or possible disengagement from students in the first 2 months of the programme.
Afraid not, this is normal.
Here are a few tips to help students develop their Growth Mindset and Grit:
-
Can students quit?
Yes, but not anytime. Quit only at the end of the program. When students have gone through part of the programme, they need to finish what they begin.
“You don’t quit just because you had a bad day, or someone shouted at you, or you feel disheartened about your progress. Finish what you started.”
-
Trust us, trust the process.
Learning = Mistakes + Failures. Think back to your epiphany moments in learning - it takes a while to get to those aha! moments, but it is worth the sweat. Remember what students are going through now is an unconventional learning path - a path that is less rigid, but rewards greater down the road.
“Mistakes help you to improve.”
-
Praise! Praise for effort and hard work,
NOT for smartness or not making mistakes. Practice the power of “Not Yet”.
“Don’t worry if you can’t do it yet. If you practice, you will get there.”
